Trig Applications
We will be solving real problems using trigonometric relationships.
See the new plans below!!
Once again, our schedule has changed. So... Let's try this:
Tuesday, January 16: We investigated the ambiguous case. The assignment is Pg. 461; Q1 - Q10, 1 - 14. If you struggle with this concept, try these links: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTDmOzUIIaw, mathbitsnotebook.com/Geometry/TrigApps/TAUsingLawCosines.html,
Wednesday, January 17: It looks like 2" of snow on our banister, so school is closed. HOWEVER, we still need to be doing math, so read the section before page 452 about area. The basic idea is that there is another formula for the area of a triangle. Since the height of a triangle (remember yesterday) is bsin C, the area of a triangle can be found by using the formula A = (1/2) absin C. Work problems from page 452: Q1 - Q10, 1 - 14. Since I am still planning on a quiz for Friday, you might go ahead and look at the review assignment scheduled for Thursday night.
Friday, January 19: Ugh! I do not see any of you as "bricks in a wall" and would love to see you today!! That being said, we also need to complete this unit. THEREFORE: The assignment for today (this weekend) is to try these bearings problems. The first 2 are worked for you on the second page. (We were going to do these in class together so I hope the explanations are OK. If not, please let me know before I finish the last 2.) Then work the Aux. Text problems on Page 415: 29, 29, 31 and 42 and from page 422: 37, 39, 41 and 48. On Monday we will review for a quiz, and look at trig form of complex numbers, on Tuesday we will take the quiz and perhaps be back on schedule for Wednesday. PLEASE - no more prayers for snow!!!
Monday, January 22: You got a review for the quiz and here are the real answers. The homework is under "Trig Form of Complex Numbers". You'll get the Geometry Connections Worksheet tomorrow. :-)
Tuesday, January 23: Students took the Law of Sines/Cosines Quiz. Remember that tonight you need to complete 10 of the 20 problems from the "Trig With Geometry" worksheet and complete the on-line text problems about trig forms of complex numbers. Tomorrow we DeMoivre!
Thursday, January 25: We did DeMoivre yesterday and it was wonderful! However, in order for students to have time to process this information and review the rest, the Trig Applications Test will be on Monday. Tomorrow we will start looking at Vectors, but they will not be on Monday's test. Here are the DeMoivre answers and here are answers to the practice problems.
